Madeline Owen

Madeline, a Feinberg Class of 2025 medical student, is a native of Columbus, Ohio and graduate of the Univ. of Notre Dame, where she received a B.S. in Neuroscience and Behavior, along with minors in Poverty Studies and the Glynn Family Honors Program. At Notre Dame, Madeline was a Stamps Scholar and was named the Univ. of Notre Dame Class of 2021 valedictorian. She served as treasurer for Notre Dame's Red Cross and Pre-Med Clubs, an undergrad admissions tour guide, and a student-athlete tutor. Madeline conducted research in a stem cell and vasculature formation lab, and was awarded the Naughton Research Fellowship, through which she conducted research at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland on bone marrow stem cells in bone formation. Through these research efforts, Madeline has received publication and presentation opportunities, and was named Outstanding Fall Undergraduate Researcher by Notre Dame's Bioengineering department. Outside of the classroom, Madeline volunteered at South Bend's Memorial Hospital, served as a research aid for a tech start-up, and worked as a consultant for a low-income non-profit business in South Bend, IN, on which she published an op-ed in the South Bend Tribune. Madeline looks forward to building on her previous community engagement and consulting experiences with the Second Opinions team!
