Katie Owens

Katie is a medical student in the Feinberg Class of 2025. She was born and raised in Ventura County California, giving her an appreciation for a good taco. Katie attended Northeastern University in Boston where she majored in Behavioral Neuroscience. In place of a minor, she studied a variety of topics from climate change in India and Nepal, to SCUBA, to religion and culture in Southern Spain. Katie has worked as a clinical and research assistant at Boston Medical Center focusing on children with failure to thrive, as a translator for sustainable tourism in rural Peru, and as a Corporate Responsibility and Government Relations intern at John Hancock Financial Services. Her research work and interests lie in food security and housing instability. She loves to cook, bike, and lift. Katie looks forward to working with the dedicated Second Opinions team and incredible organizations to improve health for all in Chicago.​​
